***** Interview with The Outside Hours *****

Q. When did The Outside Hours starts, tell us about the history...
We formed The Outside Hours in 2011. We were very much into music and we had similar taste so we decided to give it a go and do our own thing. We started rehearsing and the music was sounding good so we started writing some stuff. We did some shows here and there and we recorded our first EP "47 Miles of Barbed Wire".

Q: Who are your influences?
We love 60's garage rock and psychedelia, that was a huge influence to us when we started. We're also very influenced by bluesmen like Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters, Hound Dog Taylor,... All that kind of raw, nasty blues. And, of course, bands like The Velvet Underground, The Stooges or the Rolling Stones are also a huge influence in our music.

Q. Made a list of 5 albuns of all time…
Wow, that's a tough question to answer. There are many albums that we love so it's hard to narrow it down to just five but here are the first ones that come to mind:

The Rolling Stones - Let It Bleed
The Stooges - Funhouse
Velvet Underground - Velvet Underground
The Cramps - Psychedelic Jungle
The Outsiders - CQ

Q. How do you feel playing live?
One of the great things about being in a band is playing live. It's great to take your songs to a stage and let it all out. It's an amazing feeling, especially when you feel the audience is getting into it.

Q. How do you describe The Outside Hours sounds?
It's kinda hard to describe our own sound, I guess that's up to critics and our fans to decide and offer a description. But I'd say it's a kind of mixture of 60's psych, lots of blues and the proto-punk sound of bands like the Stooges. The key thing is taking your influences and do your own thing with them. That's what we try to do.

Q: Tell us about the process of recording the albums?
We did everything ourselves. Total Do It Yourself style. We recorded, arranged and produced everything. Our two EPs "47 Miles of Barbed Wire" and "The Devil's Right Hand" were done that way. We were very confident about how we wanted to sound and that's how we did it.

Q. Which new bands do you recommended?
In Spain there are quite a few new bands that we dig. There's Guadalupe Plata, a great swampy blues band that are really worth checking out. We dig El Gran Manel too, lo-fi blues with a psychedelic touch. Junior Mackenzie is great as well. Caustic Roll Dave, Fuckin' Bollocks, Chemistry Set, Peachy Joke,... Also, I think there are many new psychedelic bands around that are really worth checking out like The Dead Skeletons, Tame Impala and many many more.

Q: Which bands you love to made a cover version?
We don't usually play covers live but when we started as a band, we used to do a couple of Velvet Underground songs. It's fun to play that stuff. We used to cover "The Last Time" by the Stones too but I think we never played it live, only on rehearsals.

Q: What´s the plans for future....
Record some new songs, play live as much as we can and hopefully do some shows abroad. It's great to play in other countries, meet some new people and see how people receive your music. We did some shows in Berlin a year ago in february and we had a blast. It was a lot of fun.

Q: Any parting words?
We'd like to thank all the people that listen to The Outside Hours and support and believe in the band. And thank you for interviewing us!
