D.evolution with Dahga Bloom - An Interview

***** Interview with Dahga Bloom *****

Q. When did Dahga Bloom starts, tell us about the history...
Dahga started with a dream about 4 years ago when the band was called Living Suns, wherein 3-5 of us were all confronted by the African god Dahga, who spoke to us, and told us to take his name. Members have changed over the years, but this is who we are now, and who we hope to remain.

Q: Who are your influences?
Dahga, kids, dogs, musicians, books, booze, furniture, poets, tools, cycles,

Q. Made a list of 5 albuns of all time…
1. Queens of the Stone Age-Songs for the Deaf
2. John Coltrane-A Love Supreme
3. Can-Tago Mago
4. V/A-Tanz Mit Dem Herzen
5. Devo-Question: Are We Not Men? Answer: We Are Devo!

Q. How do you fell playing alive?
Very sweaty. Aware of each other. Very Loud. In tune, in time. Soaring. Marching. Blown out.

Q. How do you describe Dahga Bloom sounds?
Fuzz, scuzz, shriek, shrill, diminished, distorted, loud, proud, driving, climbing.

Q: Tell us about the process of recording the songs ?
We usually work on a song for a while until we get a structure, then we record a quick demo of it and let it sit and soak in with us. Vocals are added. Then we re-record, more professionally, in our studio. Sometimes we track individually, sometimes in pairs, sometimes live as a full unit. Whatever works and is appropriate for the sonic mood, we try to apply to each song.

Q. Which new bands do you recommended?
Elms, half goon, church of sun, FART BARF

Q: Which bands you love to made a cover version?
Devo, rheingold, the damned/

Q: What´s the plans for future....
Releasing "No Curtains" for captcha records, working on a new 10" record, playing Austin Psych Fest, and Psycho de Mayo, and continuing to write new songs.

Q: Any parting words?
Music should be fun, not a task, job or chore. If it ceases being fun, it ceases being necessary.
